Unfortunately Papaw didn’t talk about this shotgun much so I don’t really know much about it. But what I do know is that it is a Springfield Model 67F 20 gauge shotgun. It is equipped with a pump-action loading system, and has no type of sight on it. To aim with this shotgun you simply just look straight down the top of the barrel.
This gun is significant to me because it is the first gun that Papaw taught me to shoot. One day when I was in middle school my older brother was shooting it and I asked Papaw if I could shoot it to He decided I was big enough and let me shoot. I wasn’t strong enough at the time to support the gun on my own so Papaw helped me hold the gun up. He told me that when I was ready to pull the trigger that he would let go. I told him I was ready and he let go and I pulled the trigger.With this being my first gun I didn’t know what to expect. As soon as I pulled the trigger the recoil of the gun kicked back so hard if knocked me in the dirt. Lets just say I didn’t shoot another gun until I was older and could support the gun on my own.
